The U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City Development Project is one of the key infrastructure projects of the EEC. to upgrade U-Tapao Airport to “The 3rd Main Commercial International Airport” connecting Don Mueang Airport and Suvarnabhumi With high-speed trains, the three airports can handle up to 200 million passengers a year.
In addition, the project will create a center for targeted business development. especially being “Center of Tourism Industry and Logistics & Aviation”, including being the center of “Eastern Aviation Metropolis” that will cover the urban development of approximately 30 km surrounding the airport. (Pattaya to Rayong), which is a continuation of the intention to develop the Eastern Seaboard to become a port city and important business city of Thailand. by connecting as an extension of Bangkok and perimeter to the east that can be easily connected by water, land and air to push Thailand into Aviation hub and economic gateway to Asia
